The so-called Temple of Diana, part of an Augusteum, modern-day Nîmes, France. Photos, historical background and visiting details.
This Roman monument may not have the grandure and scale of some of the other Roman buildings in Nimes, but is interesting and worth a visit nonetheless. The temple is quite small but it was fun to visit because you can really walk around every part of it and at least when we were there we had it all to ourselves and we could take some good pictures and it felt really peaceful to be there. Believed by some to have been originally built sometime during the reign of Augustus - others say in the 2nd century - it has been suggested that the Temple of Diana may have been a library.
