Hecla’s Lucky Friday is an underground silver-lead-zinc mine that has been in operation for 75 years and produces from depths over 2.3 km below the surface. The Montanore project is located approximately five miles northeast of Noxon, Sanders County, Montana (about 50 miles north of the Lucky Friday mine in Idaho). Hecla’s Lucky Friday silver-zinc-lead mine has partnered with Epiroc to design, build, test, and deploy a mechanical miner, the Mobile Miner 40V, for primary ore production, which Hecla refers to as a Mobile Mechanical Vein Miner. Hecla acquired the Montanore project in September 2016 with the acquisition of Mines Management Inc.
